Freezer Friends: Egg Freezing and Fertility Talks at The Butler

Have you ever considered egg freezing? Maybe you felt confused, alone or too young to broach the subject. Fertility can be a sensitive, isolating, and misunderstood topic. But at Endo Articles, it’s something that kindles a community.

On Saturday 20 July, we partnered with world leading fertility centre, Genea, to host an informative and empowering panel discussion with some of Sydney’s top fertility experts. The all-female team included the gynaecologist and advanced laparoscopic surgeon, Dr Becky Taylor, senior embryologist, Cecilia Wong, and Kate Anderson, an open and compassionate patient with years of lived experience. The panel was led by UNSW endometriosis researcher, Kate Gunther.

Entering the event, I stumbled down Victoria St in Potts Point to the endometriosis paradise that was Freezer Friends. Walking in, guests were greeted with a bespoke display of delicate flowers, exotic fruit platters, and refreshing juices curated by The Butler. Over brunch, guests at this autonomous event had the opportunity to connect with like-minded people, ask questions, and share hopes and fears. Goodies bags for each guest offered a range of fertility resources as well as an assortment of egg-themed gifts.

Every aspect of the Freezer Friends morning was tailored with the guests in mind. Participants were broken off into smaller focus groups based on where they were at in their fertility journey to have the space to discuss what they needed most. A team of considerate, compassionate Endo Articles volunteers insured every guest was included. Whether someone had just been diagnosed with endometriosis, or was years down the line of fertility conservation efforts, there was a seat for them at Freezer Friends.

Freezer Friends events will continue to be held regularly by Endo Articles in the future, including in other cities. Find out about the next event by keeping up with our website or Instagram.
